National Tea Day 2018
If there is one thing that has always been constant in my life it has been a cup of tea. Indian tea that is. My parents would have a cup first thing in the morning, after work, when guests came over... Always served with samosas and cake. Regardless of the weather, a pot of tea was always brewing.
Now that being said, I was never a fan of tea when I was younger. My mother would make me drink it when I was ill. She would add licorice root, ginger and cloves to it and tell me it would make me feel right as rain.
Now in my thirties I will happily have a cup of tea when I'm ill and only when I am ill. Funny thing is most the spices added to Indian tea are added to my favorite gins.
When I saw it was National Tea Day I knew I would have the perfect drink lined up... not a cup of Indian tea but a teapot full of gin goodness.
She would add licorice root, ginger and cloves to it and tell me it would make me feel right as rain.
The Original London Cup by Sipsmiths
Who needs Pimms when its gin0clock.
Sipsmiths were inspired by the blends of Earl Grey tea, lemon verbena, bitters and London dry gin.
I paired The Original London Cup with Fever-Tree's Ginger Ale. Added garnishes of dried juniper berries and a lemon wheel.
The perfect drink to enjoy on this ridiculously hot day...
